In the different countries of the continent, it has different names, such as buzzard, aura, or just vulture. In P<strong>en\u00ednsula Vald\u00e9s<\/strong>, it is one of the largest of the vultures, with a red head, blackish plumage, more brown on the upper surface of the wings.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_8504\" style=\"width: 510px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-8504\" class=\"wp-image-8504 size-full\" title=\"Turkey vulture on a bush in Punta Norte\" src=\"https:\/\/ecohosteria.com.ar\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/jote52.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"315\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-8504\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Turkey vulture on a bush in Punta Norte<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The underside of the flight feathers is grey, creating a sharp contrast. The head is small in proportion to the body and has no feathers \u2013 in adults it is reddish and in juveniles, it is black. It weighs between <strong>3 lb \/ 6 lb<\/strong>\u00a0<em>( 1.4 and 2.7 kg )<\/em>, measures <strong>23\/29 in<\/strong>\u00a0 <em>( 60\/76 cm )<\/em> in length and has a wingspan of up to<strong> 6.5 ft<\/strong>\u00a0<em>( 2 m )<\/em>. It glides with wings in a <strong>\u201cV\u201d<\/strong> shape and often sways in a way that gives the impression that it is drunk. It\u2019s typically seen in <strong>Puerto Piramides<\/strong>, flying around the valley, and taking advantage of thermal wind generated by the hills that protect the town from east to west, on the north side. The <strong>turkey vulture<\/strong> is a scavenger, ranging over large distances and finding carrion with a keen sense of smell.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-3513 size-full\" title=\"Turkey vulture  Puerto Piramides\" src=\"https:\/\/ecohosteria.com.ar\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/jot_urubu.jpg\" alt=\"Turkey vulture  Puerto Piramides\" width=\"700\" height=\"440\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Typically, it will feed on the carcasses of sea lions, guanaco, hares and rabbits.
