Een gevoel van enormiteit omringt me elke keer als ik kijk naar een onmeetbare hoeveelheid water vanuit zijn gezichtspunt. Bij het zien van het gebrek aan vegetatie, het ontbreken van planten en bomen, voelt een nieuwkomer dat er niets is, alles is leeg. Een vlakte met struiken, allemaal hetzelfde, laag en droog. Kliffen van geologische lagen, vertel ons over vroegere tijden in deze breedtegraden. Prehistorie was vol met dinosaurussen, veel van hen herbivoren en tropische planten die dichte bossen vormden. Sommige van de versteende diersoorten die hier worden gevonden zijn mariene weekdieren, dit land was ook een oceaanbodem, maar het zijn soorten die niet langer in deze gelachtige wateren leven. Tegenwoordig worden ze in de Caribische zee levend en schokkend gezien !! Tests die ons laten zien dat het gebied volledig tropisch was.<br \/>\nMaar goed, dat was miljoenen jaren geleden.
