Between September and November, we become the essential base for watching the Southern Right Whale. We are the only authorized port in Península Valdés. The clarity and tranquility of the water in Golfo Nuevo make our region an underwater paradise. Just a ten-minute boat ride from town, you can dive into marine parks like "El Derby", surrounded by fluorescent anemones, sea salmon, and groupers.3
Snorkeling and Freediving with Sea Lions
If you are not interested in learning to scuba dive, this excursion is an absolute must. The best part is that you do not even need to know how to swim. A thick neoprene wetsuit provides constant buoyancy, allowing you to relax and enjoy the magical, curious company of sea lions underwater.4
Kayaking Trips
During the summer, you can paddle out right from our beach toward the Punta Pirámide sea lion colony. It is a journey of about 5 kilometers framed by striking cliffs and rocky reefs. The kayaks are highly stable, and no prior experience is required to experience this close encounter with the local wildlife.5
Multi-Day Kayak Expeditions
For the more adventurous explorers, our friends at Patagonia Explorers organize multi-day journeys along the pristine shores of Golfo San José. Camping under a star-filled sky, sharing a campfire on the beach, and paddling without a motor allows you to connect with whales and penguins in an completely respectful, silent way, minimizing our footprint.6
Mountain Biking
Pedaling through the endless steppe is another excellent option. Armed with state-of-the-art bicycles and the unmatched knowledge of local expert guides, you can discover immeasurable landscapes and secret viewpoints along trails that connect our village with hidden corners of the peninsula.7
