Specifically, you would save at least 124 mi (200 km) of your life, every day.
The distances in Peninsula Valdes are endless. Choosing to stay in Puerto Piramides will save you a lot of time, money and life. You decide the hotel, hostel, guest house according to your budget. But this is my advice. Of course, I own a hotel in the town, but my passion for marine fauna photography put me in this destination for a simple reason: In 3 minutes, I leave my house and I’m embarking to do whale watching.
If you come to see penguins and/or the Orcas season you have to go through the Peninsula to Caleta Valdes or Punta Norte, depending on the time of year. In these cases:
- from Puerto Piramides, the trip is 50mi ( 80 km )
- from Puerto Madryn are 112 mi ( 180 km )
- in both cases, 47 mi ( 75 km ) are gravel Only one way!
There are no buses that cross the gravel roads of the Peninsula Valdes, if you are traveling with the excursions that leave from Puerto Madryn or Trelew, Most of the adventure is to travel the steppe, during many hours.
